2008: Played and started all 37 matches for the Bobcats during her sophomore year ... just one of two players to start every match ... earned 2008 SLC All-Academic honors ... she tallied 261 kills averaging 1.93 per game, hitting .265 ... had 22 assists and 32 service aces ... the right side hitter had 238 digs and 58 total blocks on the year ... received SLC Offensive Player of the Week accolades when she helped lead the Bobcats to a 2-0 sweep over Nicholls and Southeastern Louisiana ... had an attack percentage of .667 against ULM for a season-high ... she had her second highest career attack percentage of .581, with a season-high 19 kills and only one error in the win over Nicholls State ... Preseason All-Southland Conference Second Team.
2007: An All-Southland Conference Honorable Mention ... ranked eighth in the Southland Conference in attack percentage on the season at .285 and fourth in conference play with a .324 clip ... played in 32 matches and 106 games, tallying 255 kills and 60 blocks ... averaged 2.41 kills and 0.57 blocks per game ... also had 64 digs, a 0.60 per game average ... set a career high with 23 kills against Texas-Arlington, one of eight matches where she posted at least 10 kills ... hit a career-best .556 in the Bobcats' next match against Central Arkansas, finishing with 17 kills and only two errors in 27 attacks ... had a career-high eight digs against UTSA before recording a career-best five aces in her next match, a win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi ... finished the season with 16 aces and eight assists.
El Dorado HS: Led El Dorado to three straight trips to the CIF Southern Section quarterfinals and a 40-0 career league record ... Holds school records in hitting percentage for a season (.492) and aces in a season (59) ... Also ranks second all-time at El Dorado in career hitting percentage (.380) and aces (94) and third all-time in season kills (246) and career kills (591) ... Named to the 2007 Orange County HS Volleyball All-Star Team ... Also named 2006 Century League MVP.
Personal: Melinda Ann Cave is the daughter of Doug and Anna Lee Cave ... Father is a police lieutenant, mother works in emergency manmagement ...
