SAN MARCOS - Texas State will look to avenge its last loss of the season Friday as the Bobcats open play in the Southland Conference Tennis Championship to be played at Texas-San Antonio through Sunday.

The Bobcats are the No. 5 seed and will take on No. 4 seed Lamar at 11:30 a.m. The winner will advance to play SLC regular season champion Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday.

Lamar posted a 5-2 win over Texas State earlier this month, snapping the Bobcats' four-match win streak. The `Cats lost a pair of three-set matches in the previous meeting against the Cardinals.

Texas State finished the regular season at 11-6 and 7-3 in the Southland Conference. Lamar posted a 6-1 win over Stephen F. Austin earlier in the week to run its record to 13-9 and 8-3.
