Texas State tennis competed in its second scheduled match-up of the season, contending in the weekend tournament hosted by Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches.

A standout performance by Bobcat Andrea Giraldo advanced her to finals play in Flight One, beating out opponents from Louisiana Tech and UL-Monroe. Giraldo went on the capturing the Flight One title, beating Martixel Gol of McNeese St. 6-4 and 7-5.

Three Texas State netters advanced to see finals action as well, but fell short when taking on their Louisiana-Monroe opponents. Rabea Hartmann fell to Noelia Leon (7-6, 2-6) as did Lainy Chafitz (7-5, 6-3) who was defeated by Giovanna Arrondo. Bobcat Jennifer Nowland was beat out by Anda Brujali, 6-3, 6-1.

In Flight Four, `Cats Ali Gulida was successful, claiming a victory over conference foe Gaby Gadeva of SFA 6-2, 4-6 (10).

In doubles action, Giraldo and Charfitz coupled in Flight One to defeat pairs from Centenary (8-0) and Louisiana-Monroe (8-4). However, Monroe partners Makhanya and Leon defeated the `Cats doubles team 8-4 in their final match.

In Flight Two, the Texas State pair of Nowland and Farmer upset the SFA duo of Enica and Harrison 8-3 in the first match. They continued a winning streak upsetting McNeese (8-2) only to fall to Louisiana Monroe 8-4 in the finals.

The Bobcats next appearance on the courts is scheduled for October 6th as they host the St. Edwards/ Trinity Play Day in San Marcos.
