SAN MARCOS - The Texas State women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to the conference-leading Southeastern Louisiana Lady Lions on Saturday morning at the Texas State Tennis Complex.

The Bobcats were a threat in the early part of the match, with two doubles' matches going down to the wire. Ashley Ellis and Lainy Chafitz fell just short at the No. 1 spot, dropping a close 9-8 decision to Nina Knavs and Breda Kovac while Bonnie Phillips and Jana Simurkova held off Christina Amo and Natalie McLeod, 9-7 at the No. 2 position.

In singles play, the Lady Lions (16-3, 9-0) proved to be too much, taking all six singles matches in straight-sets.

The final two weeks of conference play will be exciting, with the race for the sixth and final spot in the Southland Conference tournament coming down to three teams.

A win from Texas State over Nicholls State would even its conference record to 5-5 and would put the Bobcats in a great spot.

On Sunday, be sure to get there early to take advantage of all the senior day events. Complimentary food and drinks will be served all day long and the first 50 fans in attendance will receive a free t-shirt.

At the conclusion of the match, join head coach Tory Plunkett and her team for a free tennis clinic beginning at approximately 1 p.m. All ages and skill levels are welcome.
