NATCHITOCHES, La. - The Texas State women's tennis team concluded its weekend road swing by picking up its first Southland Conference victory of the season on Sunday, with a 6-1 victory over Northwestern State at the Jack Fisher Tennis Complex.

The Bobcats opened the dual by winning the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3. Texas State's Ashley Ellis and Lainy Chafitz combined for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles, while Christina Amo and Natalie McLeod teamed for an 8-0 victory.

In singles action, the `Cats took five of six matches en route to the 6-1 victory.

With the win, Texas State improved to 3-9 and 1-2 in the Southland Conference.

Texas State will return home March 14 to play host to Columbia. The matches are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the Texas State Tennis Complex.
