MONROE, La. - Louisiana-Monroe's top three singles players all scored two-set wins as the Indians defeated Texas State 5-2 Saturday.

With the win, ULM improved to 5-3 and 2-0 in the Southland Conference. Texas State is now 2-9 and 0-2 in the league. The Bobcats continue their extended road swing to open SLC play Sunday when they take on Northwestern State in Natchitoches, La.

Texas State's two points came at No. 4 and No. 5 singles. Bobcat senior Leja Sirola defeated Pauline Bourdet 7-6, 6-2, 13-11. Sophomore Sumarie Muller defeated ULM's Giovanna Arrondo 7-6, 6-2.

The Indians opened the dual by winning the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3. Texas State's Ashley Ellis and Lainy Chafitz combined for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles.

Texas State is back in action at home Tuesday when the Bobcats play host to Columbia.
