HOUSTON - Texas State opened the 2007 spring season Sunday with a 7-0 road loss at nationally-ranked Rice.

The Owls, ranked No. 64, won five of six singles matches in straight sets. Texas State's Rabea Hartmann, playing at No. 3 singles, posted a 7-5 win in her first singles set and her opponent, Tiffany Lee, needed a 7-6 win in the second set en route to a 5-7, 7-6 (7-5), 10-8 victory.

Texas State returns to the court Feb. 9 when the Bobcats open at home against Texas-Pan American.
