SAN MARCOS - Ashton Peters' solo home run in the fourth inning paced a Bobcat offense that pounced on Stephen F. Austin for four runs on nine hits as Texas State's pounded out a 4-0 win in Sunday's series finale against the Ladyjacks.

Ragan Blake threw seven shutout innings, striking out six and allowing two hits and three walks, to improve to 18-10 as the Bobcats moved to 23-18 overall and 13-8 in Southland Conference play with the win. SFA fell to 17-25 and 10-8 in SLC play with the loss.

The Bobcats struck early when Alex Newton ripped an RBI triple to left center field to score Jetta Weinheimer. Texas State missed a chance to add to their lead when Newton left third base while the pitcher had the ball in the circle, resulting in an automatic out. The RBI still gave the `Cats a 1-0 lead through two.

Peters doubled the lead in the fourth by taking an 0-1 pitch from Magen Butler over the left field fence for her first home run of the season.

Clever coaching and baserunning doubled the lead again in the sixth. Weinheimer walked and went to second on a Newton single down the left field line, and they moved into scoring position thanks to Peters' sacrifice bunt.

Pinch hitter Lacey Duncan, who delivered the game-winning hit in the tenth inning of game one of the series, executed a perfect suicide squeeze bunt to score Weinheimer. Duncan then took off for second base on the throw home on the play, getting tagged out at second but allowing Newton to score easily.

Blake then shut down the Ladyjacks in the seventh, retiring them in order for the win.

Butler threw six innings, allowing four earned runs on nine hits and three walks. The loss dropped her to 1-3.

The Bobcats next travel north to Austin to take on No. 11 Texas on Wednesday, April 18, at McCombs Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
