NATCHITOCHES, LA. - Leah Boatright's two-run single capped a five-run fifth inning as Texas State beat Northwestern State 6-1 to sweep the weekend series and earn its sixth-straight Southland Conference win.

Ragan Blake pitched her third complete game of the weekend, outdueling Amanda Glenn as the Bobcats improved to 21-18 overall and 11-7 in the SLC. The Lady Demons fell to 20-24 and 11-10.

NSU staked an early lead with an RBI double by Margaret Patterson in the third, but everything turned around with Texas State's big fifth inning.

Alex Newton singled to lead off and came home to tie the game when Ashton Peters followed with an RBI double. When Tamara Keller dropped down a sacrifice bunt to move the runner to third, Amanda Jameson's error on the play allowed Keller to reach safely and opened the floodgates for a big inning.

Keller then stole second, and Ryan Kos came up with another big at bat with a suicide squeeze bunt that everyone was safe on, scoring the go-ahead run while leaving two runners on. After a walk, Boatright came up with the bases loaded and two outs, delivering her two-run single to center field to make it 4-1 and provide insurance.

Texas State added another run in the inning on a double steal that scored Kristina Tello, and capped off the day with an Amy Krueger RBI double in the sixth inning to make it 6-1.

Blake struck out six Lady Demons while earning her third win in two days, allowing five hits and one walk over her seven innings to move to 16-9. NSU's Glenn allowed six runs, three of which were earned, on six hits with two walks in six innings. She struck out seven and was relieved for the final inning, falling to 12-11 with the loss.

The sweep was the Bobcats' second straight conference sweep after last weekend's series against UTSA.

Texas State now returns home and will have nearly a week off before a series at Bobcat Field April 14-15 against Stephen F. Austin.
