SAN MARCOS - Four Bobcat errors helped Southeastern Louisiana to five runs, and a seventh inning Bobcat rally came up a run short as Texas State lost 5-4 in the series finale on Sunday.

Lacey Duncan hit her first career homerun, a two-run shot that just cleared the left field wall, to bring the `Cats within a run, but Leah Boatright flied out to end the game.

The loss dropped the Bobcats to 10-11 overall and 2-4 in Southland Conference play while SLU improved to an overall record of 14-8 and 3-2 conference mark.

Jetta Weinheimer gave Texas State a 1-0 lead in the second when she scored from second on a throwing error, but the center fielder then gave it back when she dropped a fly ball in the fourth that would have ended the inning but instead plated a run to tie it at 1-1.

SLU then broke through in the sixth with some timely hitting and more Bobcat miscues. After Elizabeth Dennis relieved starter Sarah Lancour, SLU's Carolann Wenisch singled with the bases loaded off to drive in two. Heather Sherrill then followed with another single to make it 4-1 Lions, and SLU added another run when Kristina Tello failed to make a play on a fly ball with two outs.

Texas State fought back in the seventh, as Amy Krueger doubled to move runners to second and third with nobody out. Chelsea Giroux followed with an RBI groundout before Karen Taylor was robbed of a hit by a diving catch in left field. With the `Cats down to their final out, Duncan connected for her home run to close the gap to a run, but Rachel Ray shut the door to improve to 7-1.

Lancour took the loss for Texas State, throwing 5.1 innings and allowing two earned runs on eight hits while striking out six.

The Bobcats continue their 10-game home stand Wednesday with a doubleheader against St. John's. Game one is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. at Bobcat Field.
