Alex Newton Junior (2008): Was the only Bobcat to start all 53 games for Texas State...Has started every game of her career...Earned Southland Conference Third Team honors...Totaled 160 at-bats, 52 hits, 29 runs, 22 RBI's, eight doubles, two triples and two home runs...In a three-game sweep over UT Arlington had six hits, two runs, six RBI's a triple and a home run...In her two appearances at the plate against Tulsa, Newton recorded a walk and then a home run, driving in two players...Hit a .462 in the first game against Texas recording one run, three hits and an RBI... Freshman (2006): Hit .282 while starting all 56 games for the Bobcats at shortstop ...Ranked in the top three on the team in virtually every offensive category...Hit six home runs and drove in 26 RBI while scoring 27 times, each of which was the second-highest total by a Bobcat...Her 49 hits, 27 runs and 11 steals were also each the second-highest on the team... In her first career game went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and a stolen base...Recorded a hit in each of her first four games as a Bobcat...Went 2-for-3 with a home run and five RBI against Rhode Island...Recorded 13 multi-hit games, including three games where she had three hits...A 3-for-3 effort against Sam Houston started an eight-game hitting streak...Went 6-for-12 in the SLC tournament, recording a hit in all four of Texas State's games and driving in a run in three of them.
