FRISCO - Texas State seniors Kim Phillips and Kristy Collison have been named to the 2006 Capital One/Southland Conference All-Academic Team.

Both players were automatic selections to the team. Collison, who was named First-Team All-Southland Conference is a repeat selection on the team. The Katy native started all 22 games this season and had a goal and an assist while playing defense for the Bobcats. She carries a 3.49 grade point average in radiation therapy.

Phillips was a second-team All-Southland Conference pick in 2006 after being a first-team selection as a junior. This fall she led Texas State with seven goals and two assists. The Arlington native carries a 3.12 grade point average in biology.

The all-academic team honors student-athletes who were selected all-conference and/or named as a district all-academic recipient this year while also earning at least a 3.00 grade point average. Remaining spots on the all-academic teams are then voted on by the head coaches, sports information directors and academic/compliance administrators. Student-athletes must have completed one full academic year at the nominating institution and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competition.
