Megan Ramey Hometown: Sylvania, Ohio Position: Assistant Coach Experience: 5th Season Alma Mater: Western Michigan, 2002

Megan Ramey begins her fifth season as the Texas State women's soccer assistant coach. Ramey primarily works with the goalkeepers and the defensive unit for the team. Off the field, Ramey serves as the recruiting coordinator and the director of soccer operations.

Last season, Ramey coached Texas State's defensive unit to one of its most successful seasons in school-history, including a program-best 12 shutouts and four student-athletes with post-season accolades. Under her direction, Texas State allowed just ten goals during regular season action and shut down Southland Conference opponents to just four goals during league play.

Junior goalkeeper Mandi Mawyer ranked third in the nation in save percentage and fourth in goals against average, while setting a single-season record of eight shutouts. Mawyer was a First Team All-Southland Conference and All-Tournament selection. Sophomore Jessica Lewis was a two-time defensive Player of the Week, while Kelsey Bernard and Mawyer received the honor once. Jessica Elting, Christina Racanelli and Anna Fagan were named to the SLC All-Tournament team, as well.

Along with the 2008 cluster of talent, Ramey coached successful athletes early on in her tenure at Texas State. In 2006, goalkeeper Paige Perriraz ranked third in the Southland Conference in total saves and posted a 6-3-0 record.

Prior to joining the Bobcats staff, Ramey served as an assistant at her alma mater, Western Michigan. While there, Ramey trained goalkeepers, planned practice schedules and assisted in recruiting efforts. She also coached at the club level, serving as the U-16 TKO head coach.

Ramey began her coaching career by working various soccer camps before entering college. She started as the assistant coach and goalkeeper trainer for three seasons with the Pacesetter Soccer Club. Over the course of the past seven seasons, she served as a goalkeeper coach at Western Michigan, Indiana University, Texas State, Middle States of America Soccer Camps and Joe Macknik's No.1 Goalkeeper Camp and is currently the goalkeeper trainer for the South Texas Olympic Development Program.

During her playing days, Ramey was a two-year starter at Western Michigan where she was named team captain, earned team MVP honors and was a First-Team All-Conference selection.

Ramey received her bachelor's degree from Western Michigan in 2002 with an emphasis in psychology and earned her master's from Washington College (Maryland) in 2005.

She holds a United States Soccer Federation "A" coaching license and is also a member of the Region III ODP goalkeeping staff.

This summer, Ramey was honored by her alma mater by being named to the Western Michigan All-Decade Team.
