Mask Selected to SLC Women's Golf All-Academic Team
May 26, 2005 PLANO - Texas State University sophomore golfer Danielle Mask has been named to the 2005 Southland Conference Women's Golf All-Academic Team. Mask registered four, top 10 showings in the spring and recorded a 79.6 scoring average. The marketing major from Irving holds a 3.67 GPA and was named to the All-Southland Conference first-team in 2005. She is a member of Texas State's Student Advisory Council and was a recipient of the Oak Farms Dairy Academic Achievement award. The Southland Conference all-academic teams, voted on by the head coaches, sports information directors and academic/compliance administrators, honor those student-athletes who earned at least a 3.00 grade point average. Student-athletes must have completed at least one full academic and athletic year at the nominating institution prior to the season in which the nomination occurs and competed in at least 50 percent of the contests during the most recently completed season. Joining Mask on the team was Lamar's Casey Cain who became the first women's golfer to be tabbed student-athlete of the year for the second year in a row. Since the inception of the league's top academic award in 2002-03, Cain is only the second player to garner the accolade twice. Also named to the team were Lamar's Jennifer Anders, Nicholls State's Shawn Fraser and McNeese State's Maria Engstrom.
