Frisco, Texas - After leading the Texas State Bobcats to its first pair of wins of the 2008-09 season en route to the Tyler Ugolyn Columbia Classic title, senior captain Kim Cessna was named Southland Conference women's basketball player of the week, released league officials Monday afternoon.

Cessna posted 14 points and a team-best seven rebounds in the `Cats 77-58 winning decision over Navy to advance the team to the championship game Saturday afternoon. Cessna went 6-for-15 and sank a pair of free throws in the performance and native continued her efforts against Long Island in the tournament finale. The San Antonio native shot 67 against the Blackbirds and finished a perfect 3-for-3 from the stripe for a career-best 19 points. Cessna's efforts helped Texas State to a 63-61 tournament victory and earned the senior Most Valuable Player accolades for the Tyler Ugolyn Columbia Classic.

SLC honorable mention votes for this week's action went to Caitlyn Baggett of McNeese State, Erin Dixon of UT Arlington, Monica Gibbs of UTSA and Nikki Williams of Lamar.
