SAN MARCOS - Ashley Cole led five Bobcats in double figures with 18 points as the Texas State women's basketball team scored its most points since the 1988-89 season and tied the fifth-highest point total in program history with a 111-57 win over Huston-Tillotson on Saturday.

Texas State also set a new school record for points in a half with 71 in the second half alone. The second half score of 71-29 nearly equaled the final score of last year's meeting between the teams, which the Bobcats won 76-29.

Huston-Tillotson kept the game interesting in the first half after falling behind 17-8 at the 11:43 mark. The Rams went on an 13-4 run to tie the game at 21-21 on a pair of Ashley Taylor free throws with 7:20 left in the half.

Cole answered to give Texas State the lead back with a pair of three-pointers on the next two possessions. After Huston-Tillotson pulled back within five at 33-28, Cole stretched the lead to double figures by scoring the final seven points of the half for Texas State, giving the `Cats a 40-28 halftime edge.

Texas State came out firing in the second half, opening with a 22-0 run over the first 5:23 of the half. Taylor hit another jumper to put the Rams down 62-32, but another 18-5 Bobcat run made it 80-37 midway through the half.

The Bobcats would outscore the Rams 31-20 for the remainder of the game, led by nine points from Mallory Williams and seven each from Chika Ofoegbu and Tamarra Evans-Sluga.

Evans-Sluga finished the game with 15 points while Ofoegbu added 14, marking season highs for both players. Brittany Wilson and Joyce Ekworomadu each had 10 points, with Wilson also grabbing a game-high 14 rebounds. In all 11 Bobcats scored, and nine players scored at least eight points.

Texas State shot over 54-percent for the game and 10-of-17 on threes, a 59-percent mark. The Bobcats also made a season-high 27 free throws on 38 attempts. The 111 total points marked the first time Texas State reached triple digits since a 102-43 win over Schreiner on Dec. 6, 2005 and the most points scored since a 113-55 win at UTPA on Dec. 17, 1988. The Bobcats also fell just seven points shy of the school record for points, a 118-58 win over Fort Sam Houston on Feb. 7, 1978.

Huston-Tillotson was led by Taylor, who finished with 19 points and was the only Ram in double figures.

Texas State returns to action Friday, Jan. 4, at Baylor.
