COLUMBIA, Mo. - Ashley Cole scored 15 points off the bench while Joyce Ekworomadu led Texas State with 16 points, but the Bobcats (4-3) could not keep up with Missouri (4-3) on its home court in the second half as the `Cats fell on the road 70-61 on Saturday.

Missouri opened up the game with a 13-4 run over the first four minutes, but Texas State stormed back with a 13-4 run of its own to tie things up at 17-17 midway through the first half. From there both teams stayed close with the lead swinging back and forth, as a Brittany Wilson jumper gave the `Cats a 30-29 lead with 3:24 left. Missouri answered on its next possession and held the lead until half, with a pair of free throws by Nicole Wilson with one second on the clock gave the Tigers a 38-34 half time lead.

Tough Missouri defense helped the Tigers increase their lead from four to eight in the first eight minutes of the second half with Texas State hitting just three field goals during that span. The Tigers' run would continue as Missouri built a 60-47, but a 7-0 Texas State run capped by an Ekworomadu three brought the Bobcats back within six at 60-54 the 4:08 mark of the game.

Missouri responded with a 5-0 run over the next two minutes before Ekworomadu hit another three, but the rest of the offense failed to get going as the senior scored Texas State's final 10 points.

Shakara Jones led Missouri with 20 points and 13 rebounds while Alyssa Hollins added 18 for the Tigers. As a team, Texas State won the boards with a 52-45 rebounding edge but shot just 34.7 percent for the game.

The Bobcats head back west to the Kansas-Missouri border for the second leg of their trip, taking on UMKC on Monday, Dec. 3, at 5 p.m.
