SAN MARCOS - The Texas State women's basketball team closed out its 2006-07 regular season with emotions high for senior night, but the game ended with an 81-60 loss to Texas-Arlington Friday at Strahan Coliseum.

Seniors Erica Putnam, Ashley Riley and Elyse Wright combined to score 26 points, as Putnam recorded her seventh double-double of the season with an 11 point, 11 rebound effort.

Putnam and Riley were two of four Bobcats in double figures, joining Joyce Ekworomadu and Victoria Davis. Ekworomadu led Texas State with 12 points while Davis scored a career-high 10.

UTA (21-8, 16-0) built a 27 point half time lead thanks to blazing hot shooting, as the Mavs went 20-of-35 for the half (57.1 percent) and made as many field goals as the Bobcats (18-11, 11-5) attempted.

An administrative technical foul soured the start of the game when Wright and Riley came out for the tip but weren't listed in the official scorebook as starters, resulting in two Terra Wallace free throws before the game even tipped off.

Texas State hung close for the first six minutes, but a 20-4 run gave UTA a 40-17 lead with 6:02 remaining in the half as the Mavs outrebounded the Bobcats 20-8 in the first half and took a 50-23 lead to the locker room.

The Bobcats came out hot in the second half, as Riley hit a pair of jumpers to help Texas State pull within 20 at 53-33 three minutes into the half. The teams traded baskets until the Bobcats made it 6041 at the 11:31 mark, but that would be as close as the `Cats would come the rest of the way.

Reigning SLC Player of the Year Terra Wallace finished with a game-high 20 points while also adding seven rebounds, six assists and six steals. Ashley Bobb added 15 points and nine rebounds for the Mavs.

UTA became the first SLC team to finish the regular season undefeated since 2001-02 when Stephen F. Austin accomplished the same feat.

Up next for both teams will be the 2007 O'Reilly Auto Parts Southland Conference Tournament at the Campbell Center in Houston. UTA will the number one seed in the tournament while Texas State wrapped up the three seed.

The Bobcats' opening round game will be Wednesday, Mar. 7, at 2:30 p.m. Due to the slate of weekend conference games, Texas State's opponent is still unknown.
