SAN MARCOS, Texas -Texas State held on to win by one point against Nicholls State, 66-65, its closest margin of victory this season. With the win the Bobcats improve to 6-8 overall and 3-0 in the Southland Conference. Texas State went 13-15 (.867) from the free throw line and shot a 62.5 three-point percentage for the night, their best all season.

Tamara Thompson started with a three pointer right off the bat to give Texas State the lead. The 'Cats held the lead all through the first half and headed into the locker room winning, 34-28.

Texas State came out in the second half and increased their lead to 11 points with a bucket from behind the arch from Ashley Perkins. Nicholls State then went on an 11-1 run to tie the game with 4:36 left to play.

Never giving-up the lead out right, Texas State held on for the one point win. Nicholls State did manage to tie the game three more times in the last three and a half minutes.

Senior center Tori Talbert recorded her fifth double double of the season and second in as many games. Talbert led all players with 21 points and ten boards. Thompson was the second leading scorer of the game with 17 points. She was 3-3 from behind the arch and went 6-6 from the charity strip.

The Lady Colonels had three players score in double figures. They were led by Marneshia Bryant with 12 points. Katherine Plummer and Nkechi Nwachukwu both added ten points each. Nicholls shot a 45.1 field goal percentage compared to Texas State's 41.4 percent.

Texas State is traveling to Louisiana-Monroe for its fourth SLC game of the season. Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m on Saturday in Monroe, Louisiana.
