SAN MARCOS - The NCAA Men's Golf committee has selected the teams and individuals to compete in the 2009 Regional Championship Tournament and Texas State Bobcat golfers Jeff Gerlich and Corey Roberson have both been named as individual competitors slated to participate in the Austin Regional Tournament.

The Austin Regional will be held May 14-16 at the par-71, 7,214 yard University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas. It is one of six 54-hole regional tournaments and the lowest five teams and low individual not on those teams will advance to the finals.

The selection marks the first time since 1992 that a Texas State individual has competed in the NCAA Regional Tournament.

"I am very excited for both Jeff (Gerlich) and Corey (Roberson), because they deserve to be included in the NCAA postseason," said Texas State head coach Shane Howell. "They are both looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead in Austin and hopefully earning a chance to advance to Nationals."

In addition to the Regional announcement, both golfers were named to the All-Southland Conference postseason teams released this afternoon by the conference office. Gerlich received second-team honors as well as the 2008-09 SLC Newcomer of the Year nod. Roberson was selected to the All-SLC third team.

In his first season with the Texas State, Gerlich led the team with a 72.8 stroke average. The Austin, Texas native competed in all ten tournaments for the Bobcats and claimed four Top-5 finishes, including a first place finish at the Carter Plantation Intercollegiate in March. Gerlich shot a career-low eight-under par 208 to claim the prize.

Roberson completes his four-year career with Texas State with the next-best performance, compiling a 73.8 stroke average in 29 rounds of golf this season. The senior led Texas State to a first-place team finish at the Bob Hurley Auto ORU Shootout while claiming the individual title with a four-under par 212. Roberson added two other Top-5 finishes this season to land the all-conference honor.
