Battle on the Bend Results

MANY, La. - Scored were on the rise Monday but Michael Carnes two-over 73 helped the Texas State sophomore move up and into a tie for fifth after two rounds of the Third Annual Battle on the Bend.

Texas State remained in fourth place at the nine-team tournament being played at Cypress Bend Golf Resort. The Bobcats shot a 299 team score Monday and have a two-round score of 598, 17 strokes off the lead held by Sam Houston State. Texas State is just eight strokes back of third-place Missouri-Kansas City.

Texas State's Andrew Bryant also carded a 73 on Monday and moved into the top 20. He is currently tied for 17th.

Louisiana-Lafayette's Devin Curry has a four-stroke lead for the individual medalist honors. He opened play with a 66 and shot a 73 for a two-round score of 139. Sam Houston State's Brandon Frankhouser has a two-round score of 143 and is in second place.

The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday.
