Men's Golf Concludes NCAA Regional Appearance

Austin, Texas - The Texas State twosome of Jeff Gerlich and Corey Roberson ended their 2009 season this afternoon at the NCAA Regional Golf Tournament at the UT Golf Club in Austin, Texas. The final round of golf was plagued with inclement weather, as the field endured a two-and-a-half hour rain delay from 10:45 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. Gerlich rallied through the rains to shoot his best round of the tournament and record a Top-20 finish. The Austin native carded a 72 in today's round and finished the tournament with a 221 three-round score. Roberson shot an 80 and finished the tournament in 68th-place, totaling 238 for the tournament. The University of Florida took the top prize with a 54-hole total of 874. Texas Tech finished second with an 876 and Texas shot an 877 for third place. Stanford and Michigan carded an 887 and 888, respectively, to round out the Top-5 teams. The low five teams and low individual not on those teams at the Austin Regional advance to the NCAA Championships. Lamar junior Hugues Joannes earned the individual qualifying spot after shooting a 216 (68-74-74).
