KERRVILLE - Texas State was one of three teams to shoot under par and the Bobcats went from tied for fifth to fourth after two rounds of the 54-hole Southland Conference Men's Golf Championship being played at the Club at Comanche Trace.

Texas State shot a one-under par 287 as a team with both Tyler Barnes-Wolf and Bobby Hutcherson shooting one-under par 71s. Michael Carnes shot an even par 72 and is one of several players, including Barnes-Wolf, tied for 14th at +5. Carnes birdied the par-five 18 to get back to even.

Hutcherson shot an 82 for Monday's first round but ended up with three birdies on the back nine to shoot -1 for the round.

Lamar blistered the course for a 268 team score, 20 strokes under par. The Cardinals have a 24-stroke lead over second-place Southeastern Louisiana which shot a 286 Tuesday while Texas-San Antonio is currently in thirdafter a 291.

Texas State will open Wednesday's final round with a two-stroke lead over fifth place Sam Houston State and 11 strokes in front of Texas-Arlington.

Lamar's Dawie Van der Walt shot a seven-under par 65 and has a two-stroke lead over UTSA's Thomas Kearney heading into the final round.
