Chase Wasson tied a school record with his 24 points (three rushing touchdowns and one receiving score). He is the ninth player to score 24 points at Texas State, the last being Terrell Harris against Appalachian State Oct. 2, 2004.
Walter Musgrove registered his fifth interception of the year and eighth of his career. It is the most interceptions in a season since Musgrove's roommate, Epsilon Williams, had five picks against 2003. The Duncanville native also had eight tackles, two pass breakups and three quarterback hurries.
With Stan Zwinggi's 172 rushing yards and Wasson's 125 yards, marking the first time Texas State had two 100-yard rushers since an overtime win over Southeastern Louisiana Sept. 18, 2004. Douglas Sherman had 124 yards and Harris had 121 yards in that game.
Zwinggi's 172 yards marked the first time a Texas State player had rushed for 150+ yards since Barrick Nealy carried for 151 yards against Stephen F. Austin last year (Nov. 12, 2005).
Senior walkon linebacker Roshad Carter registered a tackle on Texas Southern's final drive. It was the Friendswood native's first career tackle and came on Senior Night at Texas State.
Senior linebacker Shola Obafemi finished with double-digit tackles for the second time in three weeks, recording 11 tackles in the win over Texas Southern. He also had 11 stops against Northwestern State two weeks ago. Two of the senior's tackles went for lost yards.
