Recap |  Final Stats

  • Texas State served as the homecoming opponent for McNeese State. It was the first of three straight weeks in which the `Cats will participate in a homecoming. Texas State University will hold its annual homecoming this coming week. Northwestern State will play host to the Bobcats for homecoming Oct. 28.

  • Texas State's nine-play, 95-yard scoring drive on the game's first series was the longest of the season. The series consumed 5:05 and was capped by a 12-yard touchdown pass from Bradley George to Chase Wasson. The touchdown reception was Wasson's first of the season. Wasson would go on to catch two touchdown passes (12, 10 yards). He now has four touchdowns on the season (two rushing).

  • Wasson also had a 48-yard touchdown run on an end-around called back by an illegal formation call.

  • In addition to the 95-yard drive, Texas State had a 15-play, 85-yard drive late in the first half which took 7:28. Capped by an 18-yard field goal by Andrew Ireland with 12 seconds to play in the half, the drive was the longest this season by time and the second-longest in distance. The Bobcats' second scoring drive of the game covered 80 yards on six plays (3:32). Texas State's three first-half scoring drives were among the longest five of the season.

  • The opening scoring drive marked the second straight game in which the Bobcats have scored on their opening drive. Last week, Ireland kicked a 27-yard field goal to cap a 12-play, 51-yard drive which consumed 6:03.

  • Jeremy Castillo forced an early fumble that McNeese State would end up recover, sustaining the Cowboys' first scoring drive. It was the third fumble Castillo has forced this season and seventh of his career.

  • Early in the fourth quarter with McNeese State facing third-and-goal, senior linebacker Shola Obafemi picked off a pass and returned it 85 yards to set up a 34-yard Andrew Ireland field goal that gave Texas State a 27-10 lead with 12:53 to play.

  • Texas State entered the game with only two picks on the year but had four against the Cowboys.

  • Senior running back Daniel Jolly returned to the field for the first time since the Northern Colorado game. Jolly has been nursing a foot injury most of the season. He did not travel to Southern Utah and did not see action in last week's league opener against Stephen F. Austin.

  • Morris Crosby's 20-yard touchdown reception with 5:52 to play in the third quarter marked the sophomore's first touchdown reception of the year. The scoring play was Crosby's 20th reception of the year.
