Recap |  Final Stats |  Notes

Texas State Head Coach David Bailiff
"I got to do a better job getting these kids to execute what needs to be executed. Twenty-one of their points were unearned. We had a young man who was supposed to go to the pitch that went to the quarterback. That's something we have to make sure doesn't happen in practice. The same on a couple other plays. We have to be assignment sound. We just have people going where they are not supposed to be. We just have to do a better job as coaches.

"I am disappointed we lost. There were times tonight and we have shown flashes in every game we have played the type of team we are capable of being. We just have to make a decision as an entire football team that we are not going to take it anymore, draw a line in the sand and continue to improve.

About the third quarter comeback ...
"I thought the defense came out really focused. We came out and got 14 quick points and tied the game at 21-21. We had some tough calls that changed the outcome of the game. But we just got to get better. Once again, if we just execute like we're supposed to those calls are not going to affect us."

Texas State freshman quarterback Bradley George
"I thought I did a good enough job preparing myself over the week but apparently I didn't. It's a tough loss. And now we have conference coming up. I'm going to take most of the blame for this loss with the turnovers and stuff. I feel like I let the team down. But I promise you, I'm going to bust my tail twice as hard next week and the week after that to get this team ready."

We had a pretty slow first half and only put up seven. We decided to go with a little hurry up in the second half - not two-minute but a little hurry up - we made it work. We scored right off the bat and got some momentum. We got 14 quick-like. We made some plays and got back into the game. But obviously we made too many mistakes throughout the game that cost us. We just keep shooting ourselves in the foot. We just have to get ready for conference coming up."

On the play of Alvin Canady ...
"That kid is one special player. He took one screen to the house 83 yards. I know he had over 100 yards receiving on screens. He's a special player and we have to get the ball in his hands any way we can so he can make things happen."

Texas State freshman running back Alvin Canady
"The 83-yarder was all about the play the coaches called. I just got behind my blocker and it just opened up. It was a real good play by our offensive linemen.

"We have a new season coming up. Conference play begins and that's more important for us. We know that's when it all counts. We can look forward to that and get better."
