  • Bradley George made his first career start at quarterback for the Bobcats. He played the entire second half of last week's game against Northern Colorado, completing 12-of-26 passes for 278 yards. Against Southern Utah, George was 17-of-34 for 266 yards and three touchdowns. George also ran for 26 yards on nine carries.

  • When Southern Utah's Johnny Sanchez scored on a 74-yard run with 10:14 to play in the first quarter, the play marked the third straight game in which a Texas State opponent had scored first.

  • Bradley George completed three of his first four passes, including a toss out in the flat to Alvin Canady that would go for an 83-yard touchdown with 3:55 to play in the first quarter.

  • Canady, like George a red-shirt freshman, had touchdown catches of 83 and 12 yards in the game. For the game, he caught six passes for 143 yards. The San Marcos native did not have a pass reception through the first three games of the season. He was also the team's leading rusher with eight carries for 40 yards

  • Texas State was penalized 10 times for 126 yards in the first half. The half was the most penalty yards for the Bobcats in a game this season. The `Cats were penalized a previous season high 13 times for 111 yards a week earlier against Northern Colorado.

  • Bradley George completed a three-yard touchdown pass to Blake Burton with 13:02 to play in the third quarter. It was Burton's first touchdown reception in a year and a day. He had an 18-yard touchdown reception against Texas A&M (Sept. 22, 2005).

  • Texas State scored 13, third-quarter points to get back into last week's game with Northern Colorado. Against Southern Utah, the Bobcats scored two, third-quarter touchdowns to come back from 21-7 at the break. The `Cats tied the score at 21-21 with 3:35 to play in the third.
