The Bobcat Baseball team is off to another great start in 2010 with major sweeps over the likes of Houston and Penn State. The Bobcats still have premium home games versus Texas A&M, Baylor, TCU and the rest of the Southland Conference.

One of the best traditions at Texas State is the cheer program which recently competed at the UCA College Cheerleading National Championships in Orlando, FL where they had another great showing. Tryouts for the Texas State Spirit Program are scheduled for April.

The Jerry D. and Linda Gregg Fields Bobcat Stadium West Side Complex is the first of many improvements that will take place at Bobcat Stadium. The new state-of-the-art structure includes 15 luxury Legacy suites and a Champions Club Level with 450 open-air seats adjacent to a lounge giving fans premium comfort as they watch the Bobcats.

2009: Played in 11 games as a member of the special team ... had seven solo tackles ... had two assisted tackles one against the Southeastern Louisiana and the other against Sam Houston State... Caused one fumble situation and recovered against Nicholls.
2008: Played in two games as member of Texas State's special teams ... had one unassisted tackle at McNeese State.
2007: Did not play after transferring from Sam Houston State. High School: Named to the 2005 Academic All-State Second Team by the Texas High School Coaches Association ... lettered in baseball, track and cross country at Bowie.
Personal: Born Nov. 10, 1987 ... son of Steve and Rosa Alvarez ... father is an executive marketing manager and serves in the military ... mother is a school counselor ... major is business management ... his three sisters, Shaunte Minor, Jennifer Dominguez and Melissa Alvarez, ran cross country at Sam Houston State ... brother in law, Obrey Minor, plays football for the Bearkats.
