Cross Country Set for SLC Championships

SAN MARCOS, Texas - The Texas State men's and women's cross country teams will be competing in the Southland Conference Cross Country Championships being held tomorrow Nov. 3, in Nacogdoches, Texas at the Piney Woods Country Club. The women's 6-kilometer race will begin at 9 a.m. and the men's 8-kilometer race will follow at 9:45 a.m.

Leading the women's team will be senior Tenley Determan. Last year Katya Kostetskaya was the first Bobcat to cross the line posting a 20th place finish to lead the women to a fourth-place finish at the Southland Conference Championships. Also, finishing in the top 25 last year for the Bobcats were Heather Bullin who was 21st in a time of 22:24.7, Samatha Evola placed 22nd in a time of 22:25.7 and Whitney Perkins placed 25th overall in a time of 22:29.7 on the 6K course.

The men's side has a group of young men who will finish at the top for them tomorrow including Michael Richards, Jonathan Hernandez and Michael Morris. At last year's championships the men's team placed eighth overall. Michael Richards was the first Bobcat to cross the line, clocking a time of 26.47 placing 30th overall.
