FRISCO - Texas State freshman Heather Bullin was named the Southland Conference Women's Cross Country Freshman of the Year Friday, conference officials announced.

Additionally, junior Tenley Determan and sophomore Whitney Perkins joined Bullin in being named to the 10 member 2006 All-Southland Conference Women's Cross Country Team.

Lamar's Clerc Koenck was named the SLC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year while Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Lydia Kimeli was named Newcomer of the Year. Both runners were also named to the All-SLC Team.

The other five members of the All-Southland Team were Lamar's Renee Graham and Amanda King, Stephen F. Austin's Ashley Monteau, Jodi Hulett of Texas-Arlington and Texas-San Antonio's Hope Jimenez.

Bullin, a freshman from Cedar Park, Texas, finished in 10th place at the SLC Championships earlier Friday in Nacogdoches.

Determan was the highest finishing Bobcat at the SLC Championships, placing sixth. The junior from Sheridan, Wyo., also earned SLC women's cross country athlete of the week accolades on Oct. 17.

Perkins, who hails from San Angelo, Texas, was the ninth runner to cross the finish line at the SLC Championships. Last year, Perkins finished 53rd as a freshman in the same race.

The all-conference honors were the first for all three Bobcat runners.
