COLLEGE STATION - The Texas State women's cross country team placed 11th in their second event of the season while the men's squad did not have enough runners to finish for a team score as both teams participated in the Texas A&M Invitational held Saturday at the Texas A&M University Golf Course.

Texas State freshman Kirby West finished the women's 5K race with a time of 19:57 to place 44th to lead the Bobcats.

Texas A&M had its five top runners finish in the top 10 to win the women's event with a score of 35 points followed by TCU (56) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (114).

Texas State entered six runners for the men's race but had only four finish the course.

The Bobcats' lone returner to this year's team, James Ortiz, placed 18th finishing the 8K course in a time of 27:08 to lead the men's team.

The Bobcats travel to San Antonio Saturday for the UTSA Whataburger Invitational.
