SAN MARCOS - Texas State newcomer Casey DeWitt, racing Saturday unattached, won the women's three-mile run at the Texas State Invitational held at Gary Job Corps. DeWitt clocked a winning time of 17:47.

Angelo State won the men's five-mile run with a score of 36.5 points while Texas A&M-International was second with a score of 51.3 points and Texas A&M-Kingsville third with 62 points. Texas State was fourth in the men's run, scoring 62 points. Texas captured the women's title with a score of 30 points. Texas-San Antonio was second with 41 points while Angelo State finished third with 76 points.

Chris Layman won the men's even, running unattached. He set the pace with a time of 26:29. Placing second was Daniel Castro of Texas A&M-Kingsville in a time of 26:51 while Texas State's Alex Escontrias was third, clocking a time of 27:05.

Texas State's Eric Sheppard also finished in the top 10 with a time of 27:27.

The Bobcats return to action next week when they travel to Texas A&M.
