Cross Country Runners Compete at SFA

NACOGDOCHES - Four members of Texas State's men's cross country squad and eight women's runners finished in the Lumberjack opener in Nacogdoches. The event, which was a kick-off to the 2006 season, featured runners in pairs splitting the course, which will host the 2006 Southland Conference Championships on Oct. 27. Texas State's top finish on the men's side came from the pairing of Andrew McCain and Chris Vidrin, who finished fourth with a time of 37:43:30. The only other Bobcat men's duo to finish was the pairing of Frankie Flores and Roel Elizalde, who finished 11th with a time of 38:38:63. On the women's side, Whitney Perkins and Samantha Evola provided the top Bobcat time, finishing sixth with a time of 30:04:07, while Heather Bullin and Jennifer White provided Texas State's second women's top ten with a tenth place finish and a time of 30:40:39. Brittany Rosen and April Murphy finished just outside the top ten, ending up 11th at 30:46:91, while Tenley Determan and Marina Andruzzi finished the race in 25th place with a finishing time of 39:34:04. Texas State's next runs Saturday, Sept. 9, in the Texas State Invitational at Gary Job Corps in San Marcos. The event begins at 8 a.m.
