DES MOINES, Iowa - Texas State wrapped up competition at the NCAA Mid West Regional with three student-athletes competing in the women's discus.

After a mark of 43.86 meters on her first attempt, senior Abby Ruston fouled on her next two attempts and placed 24th in the event. Ruston had advanced to the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship in the shot put. She will return to an NCAA Championship however as she qualified Friday in the discus.

Freshman Jiovanna Martinez was the Bobcats' top finisher in the shot on Saturday, placing 18th with a throw of 45.23 meters (148-05). Fellow rookie Katie Hanie finished 25th. She fouled her first two attempts before posting a throw of 43.86 meters.
