Blaine Wiley enters his fourth year as an assistant coach at Texas State after a successful 2005 season where seven Bobcat sprinters earned All-Southland Conference honors, as did the women's 4x100 and 4x400 relays. The men's 4x100 relay and the women's 4x400 relay were also regional qualifiers as in 2005.

Wiley's duties include working with the men's and women's sprinters and relay teams, coordinating recruiting for the men's and women's programs, fundraising and other specific administrative duties. He also serves as meet coordinator for all Texas State home track meets. He received his USATF Level 1 Track Certification in December of 2002.

During Wiley's four seasons as an assistant the Bobcat women and men have won seven Southland Conference Team Championships. His sprinters have claimed 16 Southland Conference individual and relay championships, 100 All-Southland Conference awards, 34 All-Time Top 10 performances, 25 NCAA Regional qualifying marks, and seven school records.

Wiley also coached LaJuana Lovett to Southland Conference Athlete of the Year and High Point honors in 2003 and 2004.

Before joining the staff at Texas State, Wiley was a standout sprinter for the Bobcats from 1997-2000. During his time at Texas State (formerly Southwest Texas) he was a member of the 1998 and 2000 outdoor conference championship teams and was a two-time team captain.

Wiley was a member of the school record Sprint Medley Relay team. He also ran the second and fourth fastest times in school history in the 100 meters, the second fastest time in school history in the indoor 200 meters, and was a provisional NCAA Qualifier and ranked in the top 100 in the USA in 2000 in the 100 meters. Wiley ended his career as a 5-time Southland Conference finalist.

Wiley graduated from Texas State University in May 2000 with a degree in Business Administration and is currently pursuing his master's degree in Secondary Education. He currently lives in San Marcos with his wife Julie, a former Texas State sprinter and graduate. They have one son, Hayden Blaine Alan, born August 18, 2005.
