Q & A:
With the success that the Bobcats have had in their two football games against the big 12 (Baylor and Texas A&M), what are the thoughts to be moving to DI-A. I know you have answered these questions before, but with the promising potential that we have, we could have a winning football team now and for years to come in I-AA. When, if it were up to you, would the bobcats be making the move?
Also, Since we have been playing bigger teams in the past five, six years, is it true we are possibly playing Kentucky next year? If not, could you tell us what team we are planning on playing for the 06 season. Matt, great questions, and thank you for your interest. I believe the most important word in your question above is the word "could". We expect to continue to have success like we have enjoyed earlier this year, and I am committed to my staff helping Coach Bailiff continue to do that. However, please remember that this is a program that has had two decades without sustained success and has NEVER been to the I-AA playoffs. Until we are producing a winner on the field consistently and our fans are filling the stadium in record numbers, I am going to defer any talk of I-A football. The Southland Conference is a competitive league and one we hope to capture a championship in this season. Also, we do have a contract to play the University of Kentucky in Lexington in September of 2006. I hope to have our schedule completed in early 2006, and we will release it and begin selling season tickets at that time.
A year or so ago, there was a lot of talk about moving up to Div.1-A, expanding the stadium, etc. Is there still consideration for doing this and, if so, what is the time-frame? Jim, please see my above response. I would love to expand the stadium, but demand will dictate how quickly this happens.
I noticed the baseball/softball field is now completed and looks great. My questions are:
Did the baseball field take away the astroturf behind home plate, and are there any updates, and or information we could attain about the new baseball/softball complex that was being designed by HKS? Tim, we will be debuting the conceptual plans here on the web site in the coming days. We are putting the finishing touches on it and I know you will be pleased. If you would like to make a contribution to this project, please contact Tim McMurray, our Associate AD for Development. |
