November is here and the Bobcats are ready to hit the hardwood. That’s right it’s basketball season! Coach Doug Davalos and Coach Suzanne Fox have their teams revved up and ready to go. The 2007-2008 Men’s and Women’s basketball seasons tip-off on Friday, November 9th as the Bobcats host Fandemonium in Strahan Coliseum. The Women’s team will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. against Texas A&M International and the Men’s team at 7:00 p.m. against Huston-Tillotson. In addition to exciting basketball, fans can look forward to special entertainment at Fandemonium. The new state-of-the-art Daktronics video scoreboard will be unveiled in Strahan Coliseum for all the fans to enjoy and will feature live and replay action, fan cam, video features and player introductions. Texas State welcomes the Capital City Dancers and Da Bull from the Austin Toros, the Hip-Hop Congress, the Silver Dancers and the Coyote from the San Antonio Spurs to San Marcos to tip-off Basketball season. With something for every fan, Fandemonium is sure to be a blast. This season the Bobcats are looking forward to 27 home games at Strahan Coliseum and an exciting road schedule as well. Be sure to catch the Women’s Basketball team at the November 20th game vs. Concordia. If you bring two canned goods to the game to benefit the San Marcos Area Food Bank, you’ll receive free admission to the game. Then on December 5th when the Men’s Basketball team takes on the Rice Owls the Bobcats will host Family4Life night to raise money for the local foster children’s home. And of course after the holiday break both the Women’s and Men’s teams will have a great conference schedule in the spring semester. Although Basketball season is just beginning, our fall sports are coming to an end. After an exciting victory against SFA at the Homecoming football game we are looking forward to bringing back the ‘Cats to Bobcat Stadium on November 3rd vs. Southeastern Louisiana at 6 p.m. On Thursday November 15th at 7 p.m. we will take on one of our biggest football rivals Sam Houston State and be televised on Fox Sports Southwest for the third time this season. At this game the “T” Association, our Athletic Alumni support organization, will induct this year’s Hall of Honor class. This special class is made up of former football greats Walter “Tommy’ Cox 71’, Ken Huewitt 83’, Paul Phillips III 77’ and Mike Wynn 82’. We are very excited about recognizing the accomplishments of these deserving Bobcats and inducting them into the “T” Association Hall of Honor, the highest honor bestowed upon our former Letter Winners. Bobcat Soccer and Volleyball seasons are coming to an end also and they are still working hard to secure their positions in the Southland Conference tournaments in Natchitoches, LA and San Antonio. Be sure to cheer on both the Soccer and Volleyball teams as they finish up the year. As always, Get Loud and Be Proud Bobcats!
