Credentials
Credentials for working media, including print, radio & television media outlets are restricted in accordance with Texas State University, Southland Conference and NCAA rules and guidelines. It is the sports information office's intention to ensure proper, professional use is made of the space available to credentialed media. Credentials can be mailed to the visiting school's media relations director for distribution. Otherwise, all credentials are made available at Media Will-Call. Credentials can be requested by contacting Rick Poulter, assistant athletics director for sports information, via e-mail at rpoulter@txstate.edu or by fax at (512) 245-2967.
Web Sites
Fan-based Web sites containing at least one or more of the following: chat rooms, message boards, recruiting information, scouting reports and links to news sites, as well as other fan-based features are not issued credentials.
Local and national organizations that maintain a news-based Web site in connection with their regular newspaper or magazine, as well as radio or television broadcast, can be issued credentials on a game-by-game basis if space is available in the press box or press row. Live, real-time updates are not permitted.
Media Services
Pregame packages, including notes, statistics and programs, are made available to the media prior to each athletics event. For football and basketball, periodic statistics are made available during contests and final statistics are distributed as soon as possible following each event. Members of the media may also request their media outlet be placed on a post-game e-mail list to receive statistics at the conclusion of an event.
Interview Policies
Texas State University's athletic department coordinates interviews between the media and its student-athletes, coaching staff and administrative personnel. Depending on practice, class and meeting schedules, Texas State student-athletes and coaches are available prior to or at the conclusion of practice.
Following events, each sport's coach and selected student-athletes are available for media interviews after a brief cooling off period. Media also may request particular players for post-game interviews.
Phone interviews with student-athletes and coaches are arranged around class, meeting and practice schedules and must be requested at least 24 hours in advance. No telephone interviews are permitted on game days.
Any interviews with Athletics administrative personnel must be requested 24 hours in advance as well.
Telephones
Texas State University follows Southland Conference policies and procedures as they relate to providing phone lines for the official radio station of league opponents. As a courtesy, Texas State also makes those phone lines available to the official radio station of nonleague opponents at no charge. Additionally, there are a limited number of telephone lines available for use by the media to file post-game stories.
