A Louisiana native Robert Flowers is in his second year as Associate Director of Texas State's Athletic Academic Center. As the associate director, Flowers manages the academic programs for the baseball, women's soccer and men's basketball teams. He also coordinates the NCAA Champs/Life Skills program and has started a new mentoring program for Texas State student-athletes. Flowers earned a bachelor's and master's degree in counseling and guidance at Louisiana Tech University, where he also was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He also earned a counselor's license in the State of Louisiana. Upon graduation, Flowers served as the coordinator of disability services at Louisiana Tech. Later, he served as an academic advisor and counselor for undeclared majors at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Three years later, he was named the coordinator of the Athletic Academic Services at ULM and remained in that position until joining Texas State's staff in 2008. |
