Busy Week
Nov. 12, 2007 SAN MARCOS - There may be only one home basketball game slated for this week as well as the football team's season finale Thursday night, but there are plenty more activities planned for the coming days at Texas State's athletic facilities. Texas State will host the UIL Volleyball State Championships, a pair of high school football games as well this weekend. It is also T-Association weekend at Texas State as four former student-athletes will be inducted into the Hall of Honor. And capping the week is a full day of the San Marcos CFPO city football championships. The week gets started with Bobcat basketball Tuesday evening as Texas State plays host to Dallas Baptist. The Bobcats opened the year with a 101-81 win over Huston-Tillotson last week. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. Strahan Coliseum. On Thursday, Texas State will honor 12 seniors as the Bobcats close out the season against in-state rival Sam Houston State in a game to be carried live by Fox Sports Net Southwest. During halftime of the game, Texas State will recognize the 2007 T-Association All of Honor Class. The T-Association will officially induct its 2007 Hall of Honor class during a dinner on Friday night in the Sac-N-Pac Room of Bobcat Stadium's End Zone Complex. All four of this year's class members were football lettermen at Texas State, then known as Southwest Texas State University. The class includes Walter "Tommy" Cox (1969-71), Paul Phillips III (1973-77), Mike Wynn (1979-82) and Ken Huewitt (1980-83). Also beginning Thursday, Texas State will continue its tradition of hosting Texas State high school playoff events. Twenty teams from the five classes (1A-5A) will compete in the semi-finals on Thursday and Friday and finals on Saturday to determine the state champions. All the matches will be played in Strahan Coliseum. This year marks the eighth straight season Texas State has played host to the UIL state volleyball championships. Bobcat Stadium will also play host to a pair of high school playoff games this weekend. A Class 4A match-up between Lake Travis and New Braunfels Canyon is slated for Friday night at 7. On Saturday, a Class 5A first round playoff game will have Austin Bowie taking on. Judson Converse at 7 p.m. Capping the week Sunday is the San Marcos Christian Fellowship of Police Officers (CFPO) city football championships. The championships begin at 11 a.m. and run until 9 p.m. Tuesday
