Bobcats Take Part in Youth League Ceremonies
Jan. 21, 2006 SAN MARCOS - Texas State basketball coaches Dennis Nutt and Suzanne Nutt along with several players were on hand Saturday for Opening Day Young Basketball ceremonies at the San Marcos Activity Center. Also on hand at Saturday morning's ceremony were Boko, members of the Texas State cheerleading squad and "Da Bull" from the NBA's Developmental League team, the Austin Torros. Both Nutt and Fox spoke about sportsmanship, staying in school and being a good teammate during the opening ceremonies. Members of both Texas State squads spent time playing basketball with the kids, signing autographs and taking pictures. The day also served as a chance to promotion Saturday night's "Stuff Strahan" double-header presented by HEB. Both teams take on Sam Houston State in the lone Southland Conference double-header of the season. Tip-off for the women's game is set for 4 p.m. while the men tip-off at 7 p.m. Youth from the basketball league also learned about "Little Dribbler's Night" which will be held Feb. 9 for the women's basketball game against Lamar and the men's game against McNeese State on Feb. 11. Youth who wear their team uniform or jersey will receive free admission to each game. Prizes will be given away to fans and mini-youth basketball games will be played during halftime of both games. Also on Feb. 11, Texas State will be celebrating Boko's Birthday with mascot mania. For information on the above promotional nights fans can contact the Texas State Box Office at (512) 245-2272. |
